interesting

Just found this on http://www.ivcfurbana.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=17&Itemid=47

Why is it called InterVarsity?
Q: Where did you get that name? Are you a sports club?

A: We aren't a sports club or group only for Christian athletes. The name InterVarsity goes back to our roots in England. Student led Christian Unions at Cambridge and Oxford (established in the 1870s) met together for the Inter-Varsity ("between universities") Christian Conference (December 1919). Students from these movements sent an alumnus as a missionary to Canada in 1928. In 1938 U of Michigan started the first US InterVarsity chapter. The chapter at University of Illinois was started in the early 40s as Illini Christian Fellowship.
