Praise the LORD!!
i got all the classes i want for next semester
i had been trying to get into ADV 300 n STAT 100 for the longest time
but ADV 300 is always full n STAT 100 is closed for no reason

i was too tired from studying yesterday
so i went on the registration website n checked if there was open seat for ADV 300
n there was ONE open seat left
heheh :D so i clicked it!  muhahahaha
if only u knew how hard it is for frosh to register for that class,
u'll know that it's totally God's blessing

i was checking STAT 100 just 5 mins ago
n all a sudden one of the sections was opened!!
so i got STAT 100 :D
then i went back to check STAT 100 again n it is closed again
it was only that few seconds that it was opened
it had to be God's blessing!! i wouldnt get that class if i check it
just 1 second later (IM NOT KIDDING!!)

PRAISE GOD!!

WTF?!

「大中至正」牌樓,更名為「自由廣場」

This is ridiculous!! & what the freak is 民主紀念館?! It's supposed to be 中正!!!

happy 19th bday

Praise the Lord for............
His unfailing love
His amazing grace
His great mercy
Giving me what I do not deserve

With 2 family members passed away in the past month
and thousands of people dead in Bangladesh
I realized how fragile life is
and that I don't have any control over my life.
The terrifying truth is that if God wants me dead, I will die.
Everyday is a gift from God.
I am not afraid of death because I know exactly where I will go
after I am dead but I don't want to go yet, I want to experience
more and discover more!

ok.... sounded like im gonna die tmr :P
well, just some thoughts on my birthday

YES

God is speaking to me!

The Traveling Team came to speak in I.V. large group on Friday, the speakers are GREAT!! I totally regretted that I didn't take notes because I forgot most of the things the speaker talked about, so I went to Cru. large group today. I actually didn't find out that the Traveling Team was speaking at Cru. large group until this afternoon, I was so happy when I found out.

I went there after small group with my pen and paper :P. Cru. is really different, I guess it's because I'm used to the way iv works now. Some of the verses the Traveling Team included in their presentation were the exact same verses that my small group was studying! And I just felt that God is speaking to me. What's even crazier is that I saw the exact same verse again in Acts in my quiet time! "'Leave your country and your people,' God said, 'and go to the land I will show you.'"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

I feel like God is calling me to go somewhere for my summer vacation but there are so many options out there that I don't know which one to do. There are also other things like summer school and internships that I want to do.

Illinois' Kevin Mitchell, right, plays to the crowd as Illinois' Will Davis comes down out of the stands, left, while celebrating with Illinois fans after taking down No. 1-ranked Ohio State, 28-21.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Illinois grabbed the national spotlight Saturday night and put an exclamation point on its turnaround season with a 28-21 victory on the road against the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. "We didn't come up here to try and play them close," head coach Ron Zook said. "We didn't come up here to have it be like last year. We came up here to have an opportunity to win." It was the school's first victory against a top-ranked team since 1956 and its first ever win against a No. 1 on the road.
"I know 'shock the world' is pretty overused but it was shocking," senior middle linebacker J Leman said.
"Everybody talks about the two big boys in the Big Ten and when you beat the number one team in the country in their place it demands respect."
Freshman cornerback Marcus Thomas - playing in place of the injured Vontae Davis - intercepted Todd Boeckman at the Illinois 24-yard line to give the Illini possession halfway through the fourth quarter with a seven-point lead.
Enter Juice Williams.
The quarterback took control of the game and led Illinois on a 16-play drive that chewed up the final 8:09 of the game to seal the Illini's eighth victory on the season.
Three plays into the drive Illinois faced a game-changing decision.
The Buckeye defense forced the Illini into a fourth-and-short on the Illinois 33-yard line with 6:53 remaining in the game. Buckeye head coach Jim Tressel called timeout and forced Zook to make a decision.
It was the sophomore Williams who insisted the Illini go for it on fourth down.
"I said, 'Coach, you don't think we can get a half of an inch?' And he said, 'If you don't get it, I'm going to hurt you,'" Williams said.
Williams' moxie paid off. He rushed up the middle for two yards, giving Illinois a first down.
"Juice is a winner," Zook said. "He's a competitor and that's why he's been our starting quarterback."
Three plays later it was Williams again rushing for a first down to help seal the victory. The sophomore ran for four first downs on the last drive to keep the clock moving and end Ohio State's run at a perfect season.
The Illini offense held possession for an impressive 13:46 in the final quarter thanks to the steady rushing attack. Illinois finished the day with 260 yards on the ground against Butkus Award finalist James Laurinaitis' defense that came into the game allowing an average of 43.2 rushing yards per game in the Big Ten.
"When you have the added challenge of the quarterback being part of the run game, that certainly adds another challenge and they did a good job of executing," Tressel said.
Williams used playaction passes to score on three of his four touchdown passes to four different receivers. His four passing scores was just one short of what Ohio State had allowed on the entire season.
The Illini played the second half without Arrelious Benn, who left the game with a concussion. In his place fellow freshmen Marques Wilkens and Brian Gamble stepped in and each found the end zone.
Trailing by a touchdown at halftime, Ohio State moved the ball well on its first possession on the second half and had a first-and-goal situation from the 9-yard line. On third down Thomas deflected Boeckman's pass in the end zone and Illinois senior linebacker Antonio Steele made a diving interception.
Williams then drove the Illini 80 yards in nine plays on the ensuing possession and found a wide open Wilkins over the middle for a touchdown to extend the Illinois advantage to 28-14.
Ohio State came out of the gates strong. On its first play from scrimmage Boeckman found a streaking Brian Hartline down the sideline for a 65-yard gain. The Buckeyes scored a touchdown on the next play.
"We were able to withstand the onslaught," Leman said.
The Illini offense answered the Buckeye score with a touchdown of its own.
"There was no panic in their eyes," Zook said.
After the game Zook said his team can still improve.
"I don't know if we're there yet," he said. "We're a pretty good team but, we got to get some more ballers and we will (get there)."
In his first two years at Illinois Zook compiled a 4-19 record but eight victories with one more game to be played this season all but guarantees a New Year's Day bowl berth.
"We want to take this program to places it's never been," Leman said.
Re-ranked Following Saturday's win over the No. 1-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, Illinois found its way back in the polls. The Associated Press has Illinois ranked at No. 20. Illinois had last been in the polls in week six of the season after beating Penn State and Wisconsin, climbing to No. 18. The Illini then fell out of the polls after losing to Iowa the next week. During its hiatus from the polls, Illinois received votes every week except week eight.

From The Inside Out

by Hillsong United

  • album: United We Stand (2006)

    A thousand times I've failed
Still Your mercy remains And should I stumble again
    I'm caught in Your grace
    Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
    Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame

    Your will above all else
    My purpose remains
    The art of losing myself
    In bringing You praise
    Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
    Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame

In my heart and my soul
    Lord I give You control
Consume me from the inside out
    Lord let justice and praise
    Become my embrace
To love you from the inside out

    Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
    Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart
    Is to bring You praise
    From the inside out
    Lord my soul cries out

the first one's on Tue
so pray for me :) ?

interesting

Just found this on http://www.ivcfurbana.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=17&Itemid=47

Why is it called InterVarsity?
Q: Where did you get that name? Are you a sports club?

A: We aren't a sports club or group only for Christian athletes. The name InterVarsity goes back to our roots in England. Student led Christian Unions at Cambridge and Oxford (established in the 1870s) met together for the Inter-Varsity ("between universities") Christian Conference (December 1919). Students from these movements sent an alumnus as a missionary to Canada in 1928. In 1938 U of Michigan started the first US InterVarsity chapter. The chapter at University of Illinois was started in the early 40s as Illini Christian Fellowship.

Fire Drill

the first official fire drill this semester
actually the only one we'll have for the entire semester

we had one the 1st day we moved in
that wasn't a fire drill tho
the fire alarm went off for no reason

so glad that i wasn't in a shower
saw this guy in his robe w/ his hair wet
how sad

still remember the fire drills i had
in hong kong's secondary school
everyone (1100 ppl) has to be out of the 7/F building,
the class monitors have to do head counts
n report the number to the teacher in charge of the area
then the teachers will confirm the number with the
head teacher who has the entire list of all the students
n we had to do all those under 5 mins

alrite, back to work

problem solved but feeling weird

The Resident Director, J Farr, said that I can move out this weekend!!!
My roommate just spoke to JFarr and she told me that she is ok that I am moving out.
As for Emilia, she is going to get a random person as her new roommate or she might have the room for herself for the rest of the year which is not likely to happen but possible.
I feel a little .... don't know how to describe it... erm... I feel kind of bad for Emilia, because it's one thing that she gets the room to herself but what if she gets a crappy roommate?
Actually, I secretly wish that she will have a new roommate so that I can get $80 back. Before school started, we have decided to rent a microwave & a fridge that cost $160/year. Now that I am leaving the room, obviously I want that money back but Emilia said she can't give me back my $80 until the new roommate gives her the $. The thing that bugs me that is what if she doesn't get a new roommate or her new roommate doesn't need to use the microwave & fridge and wouldn't give her the $?
The biggest problem is that Annie (my future roommate) doesn't have a microfridge and we want to get one! Then I'll have to pay an extra $80????

What's going on?

Classes started last Wednesday, and I have been extremely busy since then. It seems to me that 24 hours a day is not enough to get everything done. The huge amount of readings (homeworks) the professors assign can be stressful, especially when I am not used to reading 200 pages (textbooks) a day and writing long essays. As a result, I just dropped ANTH 160 Contemporary Social Issues. I have asked around and many people told me that I am taking too many credit hours (17 credit hours) as a freshman. I also spoke with my academic advisor and he said that "you are taking an awful lots of hours". I didn't think about dropping a class until just now because I thought I will be able to deal with all the work but I was wrong. I finally realized that I need to give myself a break, freshmen usually only take 12~16 hours their first semester, so 14 credit hours which I have now, is very reasonable.

Besides from classes, I go to IV meetings and we just had our 1st Bible study group yesterday (Tuesday). It is a wonderful way to keep myself close to God in this busy and frustrating schedule. I am having quite a bit of problem with my roommate because of our personal preferences. My roommate is an extremely light sleeper and basically, I cannot do anything when she is sleeping since the tiniest noise may wake her up. It became a big conflict for both of us, so I am going to move into my friend Annie's room. The possibility of that is 90% but some problems are still waiting to be solved. My roommate and I are going to meet with the Residence Director who deals with roommate problems in the hall tomorrow. Hopefully we can come up to an agreement after that meeting.

So, except the roommate problem, pretty much everything is going well for me.

By the way, I go by Yinting in UIUC. No one calls me Veronica, so when you send me something in the mail, address it to Yinting Wang :)

I'm having a little problem with my roommate
but I'm sure it will get sorted out very soon.
Compare to yesterday, the situation has improved.
At least, we said "Good morning" to each other.
I think this problem has drawn me closer to God,
because there is nothing else that I could do.
Another lesson God wants me to learn.
Let's see how God will lead me this time :D

2nd day of class

It is still hard to believe that I'm a college student.
I still don't think I'm a college student although I realized
that I had a lot of misunderstanding about the college life.
I used to think that college is all about fun but judging from
the classes I had these 2 days, college definitely has more
work than high school.
Life isn't as scheduled as high school's any more.
I find the gaps between each class very hard to make use of.
In high school, I needed to wake up at 7:30am and leave the
house at 7:15am. Now, I wake up at 7am to get ready for a 9am
class because the campus is too big! It takes at least 10-15 minutes
to walk to the classroom. During that 2 hours, I need to check email,
facebook (also read the daily Bible scripture thingy), use the bathroom,
eat breakfast.
Maybe it's just me, but I wish there is 48 hours a day so I can finish
all the things I want to do.

Pastor Albert's looong sermon

went to The Vineyard Church w/ vivian today
i think i miss pastor albert's long sermon
vineyard has really short sermon
it was like that's only the intro, rite???
n they dun hv anything else under the bullet points
the pastor said the bullet pt., explained for like 2 minutes
then moved on to the next pt.
n there r like 3 pts + a "conclusion" that encourages u to
take their course~ some free n some not
the music was definitely GOOD
tho i've never heard of those songs they sang

miss SBBC a lot
think vineyard's a little too big for me
it has 3 sessions on sunday
n the whole church has 2500 ppl
so no one will ever "know" u unless u join a small gp.
n they hv like 60 small gps!
still need sometime to figure out if this is the rite church for me

Allen Hall

moved in on thursday morning n my roommate came in the evening
everything's unpacked, so i'm just waiting for the stuffs I mailed to arrive on Monday
the orientation was okay, not as excited as I've expected it to be though. those dance parties they held were awkard, no one reli danced.
it's supposed to be breakfast time rite now but they changed it to branch, so i need to wait 2 hrs for it.
met some ppl that i think i'll cont' hanging out w/ for a while. we took the bus to walmart yesterday n got some stuffs. i got a bag of 25 packs dorritoes for only $5 XD i might meet up w/ vivian today to go to walmart again. i love the stuffs there! they r soooooo cheap!!! y the heck did i buy all the stuffs in hong kong?! they are almost the same price here! (10 hangers for 97cents!! 2 sharpies for $1.50! 10 notebookes- the ones that u can tear off w/out snowflakes coming out, for $1, n a lot more!!)
needa buy detergent n softerner later. the washers r a rip off! it costs a dollar to wash like a quarter of the amount i used to wash at home! u will not believe how tiny the washer is.
i'm gonna change my schedule later today. needa drop asian mytheology n intro to us gov't n politics.  heard those classes are a pain. but all the classes i want to take r full now, so dunno what to do :(
oh, anyone knows where to get reli cheap textbooks??

dinner was good guys. thz for the meal, john
thank you for the gifts, ing n dan
just luv them!!
went to bed bath n beyond, got extra long twin bed sheets
n a thermos for only $8
the taxi driver came at 9pm
arrived San Fran. airport before 10pm
it's quite sad that SF airport makes ppl pay for wireless internet
where the tiniest bloomington-normal airport provides free wireless
(this airport is so far the smallest i've seen in my life)
met this guy (Ding, Yi) in SF airport who goes to berkeley
but he's fm champaign n went to the high sku inside uiuc
so i'm getting a ride fm him to uiuc
actually fm his mom cuz his mom's picking him up
my mom would prob. says what i'm doing is really dangerous
which i agree to some degree
so just in case someone kidnapps me. goodness, i'm so pessimistic!
just worrying too much

driving

  • scary!!!
i just went driving on the road
not driving in the driving sku anymore
    it's terrifying
    there are sooooooo many motocycles
people cross the road w/out reading the traffic lights
the cars switch lanes every 2 secs
n the roads are so narrow
i was holding the wheel so tight
that the instructor kept telling me to relax
then i was like " i cant relax ! the motocycles are too close!!"
    so yea
the entire trip was filled with the motocycles are too close
    n just relax

new hair cut

got a new hair cut yesterday
that stupid hair- stylist
told her to cut my hiar to shoulder length
n she cut it an inch above my shoulders
it looked so ugly after she cut it
so i spent 3 hours in the bathroom fixing it
now it looks better
still looks weird tho
not used to it

to SBBC'ians

i started crying the second i left pastor albert's house
it stopped when i got home
then david gave me a very belated grad card
n i started crying again
u were rite, i was one little bitter n angry person when i came
heheh
i still remembered the 1st time to sbbc
i think my 1st impression was:
wow! there r only 3 guys (sebastian, eric n david)
n they look very "different"
i remember crying during the communion
i think some girls came to talk to me
but i didnt reli talk much
quite amazingly i got baptised after 6 months
n i remember saying:
being baptised is even better than having a bday party
because i got so many presents!!
that summer we went to TJ
the mission trip drew us closer
it built a stronger relationship among us
this year i reli got attached to sbbc
i look at it as my seond home
not going to church on friday n sunday makes me feel weird
like i forgot to do something
i love talking to the girls
i love scaring the guys to death (muhahahahah)
i love SBBC!!
saying good bye is never an easy thing
especially to sbbc
i prob wont survive in the states w/out u guys
actually i will survive
but my life wont be as colourful

THANK YOU, SBBC !
